TREATS
TURKEY TREATS:
Hi Folks,
You've asked for the super-simple turkey treat recipe I'm using. They're low-allergy and taste good enough that you can put them in your mouth to spit-treat if you like.
TURKEY TREATS.
1 20 oz package LEAN ground turkey (I use turkey breast)
1/4 cup rice flour
1/4 to 1/2 cup water
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon rosemary
Put rice flour, 1/4 cup water, salt and rosemary in the bowl of a stand mixer and blend to a smooth paste. While mixer is running, add hunks of ground turkey. Mix until smooth - add up to 1/2 cup additional water if needed to make a paste. Load into a large piping bag cut off the end to make a 1/4 inch diameter hole (or load into a ziplock bag and cut the hole in one of the corners). CUT THE HOLE SMALL - the piped mixture should come out no bigger than your pinky-finger. (You can cut the hole larger, but can't cut the hole smaller.)
Cut a piece of parchment paper the exact size of the microwave turntable. Place turntable on the counter top, top with pre-cut parchment. Pipe the mixture onto the parchment in long "logs", leaving about 1/4 inch between rows.
Return turntable/parchment/mixture to microwave and microwave on HIGH for 1 minute. Check for complete cooking (rows should be evenly firm). If needed, cook an additional minute or two until all the logs are cooked through and firm. Remove turntable and set on counter to cool. Be sure to roll logs over so they "dry" evenly (bottom will remain moist if you skip this step). Cut into chunks and store in a ziplock bag in the refrigerator. Add a folded dry paper towel to absorb any excess moisture.

RECIPE FOR PUPPY POPOVER TRAINING TREATS:
4 eggs
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese (like in the can or plastic jar) I think I accidentally used less and it still worked fine. 🤣
2 Tablespoons coconut flour
1/4 cup + 1 Tablespoon tapioca flour
Beat eggs and mix into blended dry ingredients. Batter will be soft and sort of foamy.
Use rubber spatula to press batter into the depressions of a silicon mini ice cube tray (the one I purchased has 160 1cm square depressions) that has been sprayed lightly with non-stick spray.
Cook in microwave 3.5-4minutes. Tiny Popovers will pop up over top of silicon tray and be dry to the touch. Pop out of tray and separate. Refrigerate or freeze. Do not leave these in your training bag....eggs will spoil!
You can also experiment with peanut butter and banana.
